/After feeling discouraged that I probably wouldn’t be able to get a job in Ontario straight after Teachers College (I don’t speak French), I decided to look into teaching internationally. This, as it turns out, was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From the start, Aurelia felt like a family. My thoughts and feelings were always put first, and I always felt supported. After graduating from Queen’s University, I soon discovered, teaching in England was difficult. However, Julie, my mentor and other Canadian teachers gave me useful teaching strategies and tips that helped me grow as an educator, and supported me throughout my time in England.
I made many life-long friends during my stay, who were always there to help and get Pad Thai with me, which is a true testament to how welcoming the Aurelia community can be. I’ll always fondly remember my first class and experiences teaching in England, and how they helped me get a job as an occasional teacher in Canada. I’m so glad I decided to teach with Aurelia, as it truly provided me with the experiences I’ll never forget!
